The
Alaska record cabbage grown in the Mats-Su Area is 106 pounds! |
Visitors seeking authentic ‘small town Alaska’ are in for a treat!
Take an unforgettable stroll through this beautiful little town.Talkeetna
is the staging area for over 1,000 climbers who attempt to climb Mt.
McKinley (20,320 feet) each year.
Located at the confluence of three major rivers, the town keeps its
mining history alive with renovated miners’ cabins used as lodging,
shops and restaurants. The town’s original saloons and roadhouses
are still open. This area offers flightseeing tours to Mt. McKinley
and glacier landings. Guided river rafting riverboat tours are another
specialty, and sport fishing in the area’s rivers and lakes are some
of the finest in Alaska.Trapper Creek and Petersville serve as the
southern gateway to Denali National Park. Opportunity for adventure
and spectacular views of Mt. McKinley are plenty.

Enjoy a peaceful setting overlooking two small lakes with a view that
expands into a beautiful panoramic of Mt. McKinley. Unwind with a
leisurely tour of our quaint garden setting, or a delightful stroll

McKinley, Bear Viewing, Rainbow, Grayling, &
Salmon Fishing
32 miles into the Mining District on the edge of both the Denali National
& Denali State Parks lay one of Alaska’s most incredible Scenic
adventures. We customize the trip to each group, and weather permitting
includes a combination of hiking 2.5 miles to within 12 air miles
of the Mt. McKinley Summit, to a place called the Tokositna Overlook.
A spectacular View of Mt. McKinley’s Southside, the Tokositna Glacier
and the Tokositna Drainage. A great place for an incredible Photo
OP or maybe a leisurely lunch/snack. Hikers must be physically able
to hike a slight incline 2.5 miles.
Then it’s off to the Clear water streams teaming with Rainbows, Grayling
and Salmon. During the first 2 weeks of July the Kings are running
25-50 pounders. Most fish are still firm and edible and in better
shape than the Salmon being caught 60-70 miles downstream in Willow
... just off the Susitna. Although, fishing is always good ... many
of my guests have enjoyed the serenity of being the only fishermen
on these clear water streams. Fly fisherman, you’ll love it.
Grizzlies can appear at any time throughout the Summer, however the
month of July is the Best. All Fishermen are equipped with Bear Mace
and Your guide carrys a 12 gauge shot gun ... just for extra protection/safety.
This can be a full 8-10 hour day...minimum time commitment 5 hours.
Let us assure you that even the most avid fisherman is in awe of the
mighty Grizzly.Weddings: Gate Creek Cabins is a beautiful setting
for a wedding. The facility now sleeps over 60 persons, so the reception
could be here or at one of the many local community facilities.
