Denali
Park - Denali Park Entrance

Denali National Park is one of the biggest attractions to Alaska and
is truly one of the world’s last great frontiers. Denali, “the high
one”, as the ancient Athabascans would call it, is the tallest mountain
peak in North America standing 20,320 feet. This mountain demands
attention! Denali, also referred to as Mt McKinley, is surrounded
by pristine lands and wildlife.
Denali National Park is six million acres of the beautiful terrain
largely unspoiled, this park is protected to allow nature to evolve
and flourish without interruption.
 |
The
United States holds 20 of the tallest mountain peaks, 17 are
located in Alaska and are measured over 14,000 feet! |
Upon arrival at Denali Park entrance, travelers are greeted by the
road sign encouraging visitors to stop at the Visitor Center. Within
the Visitor Center, travelers are able to inquire about bus passes,
backcountry camping and road-accessed camping permits. It is here
that visitors are able to access more information about the park through
the auditorium, information center and gift shop. Further up the George
Parks Highway, the Denali Park entrance plays host to thousands of
visitors each summer, anxious to explore the area. The community holds
various conveniences for the needs of the traveler ranging from basic
necessities to lodging, dining, flightseeing, rafting and mountain
biking.
Click Map to Enlarge
Most visitors to Denali National Park and Preserve
limit their visit to the developed and congested Park entrance. The
more adventurous travel is to Kantishna at the end of one of the grandest
drives on earth, the Denali Park Road. Winding through the Alaska
Range, deep into the center of the park, this exciting route offers
you the best chance to see the wildlife, which makes the Denali area
so unforgettable. Grizzlies, moose, caribou, sheep, wolves, fox, golden
eagles, and a vast array of other bird life all may be sighted on
the way to or from our exclusive lodge. And should the weather smile
on you, above it all towers “The High One,” Denali itself, the tallest
mountain in North America. For more information contact Denali Lodges
